Your blog is pretty cool to me and your subject matter is very relevant. I was browsing around and came across something you might find interesting. I was guilty of 3 of them with my sites. "99% of site owners are guilty of these five mistakes". http://bit.ly/tJJczA You will be suprised how simple they are to fix.

Yes ACE Insurance was very supportive (or it might have still been CIGNA Insurance before they were bought out). I think I was one of the first people in my office to ask for a sabbatical (as this was a number of years ago when sabbaticals had not really been heard of) and from what I can remember it was approved in just a few weeks and plans put in place for staff to cover my role.
It was a good way for me to take some time out without having to resign. This meant I still had a job to come home to and didn't have a period of unemployment on my return.
Definitely more adventures to come!

Anthony! If I understand it, your previous career was with a company (ACE) that was cooperative and supportive of your "time out." Was that a hard negotiation? Was it unusual for people to ask for a career break?

Thanks for a phenomenal story! And it seems there's more to come. Barbara
