An Indian media outlet, The Financial Express, just published an article about a new study from Boston Consulting Group that finds that Indian companies will juggle between solving manpower shortage and offering work-life balance to its employees in the next five years. In the article, BCG was quoted as saying: “By 2015, 56% of the executives expect their companies to be offering sabbaticals, while 48% expect them to offer flexibility of tele-working.”
The study, “Creating People Advantage: How to Address HR Challenges Worldwide Through 2015,” found that China will face similar challenges, The Financial Express said.
Changes in business and society are making people more important than ever to success. And their importance will only grow, the BCG study says. Companies that fine-tune their systems and gain a “people advantage” will race ahead of their competitors.
The work-life balance issue isn’t unique to overworked Americans. Globalization begets global HR challenges.
BCG, by the way, offers its own employees with five years’ service a 2-month paid sabbatical.
